Connect Sports was founded in 2010 by Tez Andrews to enhance the South DeKalb community through recreational sports. Connect Sports first served families in the community at Oakview Elementary School, Decatur, GA in 2011. Over the years, we have served students at various locations including Columbia Middle School, McNair High, Henderson Elementary School, Toney Elementary, Flat Shoals Elementary and others.
Connect Sports is an outreach program that aims to bring families together by providing parent resources, teaching youth life and leadership skills thru Sports, Fitness, Education, Mentoring and Mental Health programs.
Participants receive guidance from trained and experienced coaches who utilize a proven structured curriculum. During the season, youth are engaged in healthy competition, and receive positive reinforcement from all involved in the program. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, so we have committed our efforts to working within our local community to help produce young men and women of integrity and character. In the past, several community organizations and individuals partnered with Connect Sports to provide Upgrade the hosting school’s parking lot, Teacher’s appreciation events, complimentary eye exams for students, financial literacy training, fitness classes and Interventional Guidance to parents. At-Risk Students have received sponsorships of basketball & cheerleading, toiletry donations, food & clothing, Interventional Mentoring, and more.
All volunteers and coaches undergo background checks before serving in the ConnectSports League.
